Little Stars School - 5 times at the Cannes Film Festival

Little Stars School of Film and Television is proud to present a portfolio of 24 films for children, most of them with educational themes, which are part of a larger series called “The adventures of the Little Stars”.

6 of these films were selected at the Cannes Film Festival:

2010 – “Magda”, Short Film Corner

2011 – “Little Stars at School”, Short Film Corner

2012 – “Little Stars in the Countryside”, Short Film Corner

2014 – “The Adventures of Little Stars in the Park”, Short Film Corner and Romanian Short Waves

Corneliu Porumboiu’s movie called “The treasure” won the Award Un Certain Talent Cannes 2015 at the section Un Certain Regard! All children in the film are graduates of the Little Stars School. On the poster appears Nicodim Toma (8 years old), a graduate of the Little Stars School, who is the motivation for the search for the treasure. The world premiere of the film took place on May 21st 2015 in Cannes, and then it was in cinemas in Romania.

Congratulations to director Corneliu Porumboiu, to the whole team that made the film, but also to our Little Stars!

Cinekid Screening Club Festival - Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2016

The film “Misteries of the past”, produced in 2015 by the Little Stars Film and Television School, was selected for this year’s Cinekid Screening Club in the Netherlands, which will take place in October.

Every autumn, Cinekid organizes the Film, Television and New Media Festival for children during school holidays. The international festival celebrates the 30th anniversary in October this year. The 10 day event in Amsterdam and across the country (30 cities in the Netherlands) covers all aspects of the media industry for the young audience and offers workshops and master classes in the field. Every year more than 50,000 children have the opportunity to watch over 500 media productions selected by the festival’s organise: artistic films, documentaries for children, short films, animations, television series and unique productions, medium production, interactive video projects and set-ups, but they can also participate in workshops.

"The Homework Machine", at International Sharjah International Film Festival for Kids, United Arab Emirates!

The “Homework Machine”, the first episode of the detective adventure series, was selected for the International Competition of the Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival, which takes place in the United Arab Emirates between 18-23 October 2015!

The Little Stars of Romania Confirms Their Value at International Festivals

MARUCA STANCU (11 YEARS), ACTRESS IN LITTLE STARS SCHOOL’S FILMS , HAS BEEN CHOSEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE JURY AT THE INTERNATIONAL CHILD FILM FESTIVAL IN IRAN

The first film and television school for children in Romania, Little Stars School, marked a new performance yesterday. Maruca Stancu (11 years old) attending school is in Tehran this week, where she was elected as a president of the jury of one of the world’s largest international film festivals for children. It is for the second consecutive year when the Little Stars of Romania occupy the most important position, something that has not happened in the history of almost 30 years of the festival. Last year, Niki Iftimoaie (12 years old) was voted unanimously by children from over 10 countries around the world.

Maruca has already starred in several children’s films, including “The Adventures of Little Landscapes in the Park,” and “The Homework Machine” that took part in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2014 and this year in 2015. At the end of the week she will hand over to the winner the Grand Prize of the Festival and will take a speech on the stage of an impressive hall in front of over 2,000 people. She said, “It was a great chance for me to get here. I see a lot of children’s films every day and motivate me to be better and better, and what I learned at Little Stars School, how to introduce myself, I have no emotions and even make a speech on the stage helped me to be the president of the jury. ” At this time, all the talented children who want to follow Maraca’s way can come to the pre-selection organized by the school.

The “Little Stars School” Children’s Film and Television School, www.micilevedete.ro, is a non-governmental educational project, unique in Romania, aimed exclusively at children aged between 6 and 12, offering personal development tools and emotional intelligence through three innovative disciplines, made especially for children: Movie Technique, Interpretation and Diction for Children. Five years since its inception, Little Stars School boasts a portfolio of 20 short films for children, most of them with educational themes, of which 5 were selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, 2014 , 2012, 2011 and 2010. The films are made by sisters Ariana Pendiuc (director) and Ema Pendiuc (producer).

For the third year in a row, the Children’s Film and Television School “Little Stars” organized in partnership with the DaKINO International Film Festival a Free Film Workshop addressed to young people in the DaKIDS section of the festival!

The workshop took place on Saturday, March 28, starting at 11.30 at the Hollywood Multiplex Bucharest Mall and was followed by the short film projection “Aurora. Doctor of the Forest “directed by Ema Pendiuc (2014, 28 min).

The workshop was an initiation in the film world, an opportunity for participating children to get in touch with the camera, talk to the microphone, and get acquainted with a mini-set of filming.

Thus, in the first part of the workshop, the children interacted with each other in front of the camera and had the opportunity to improvise different scenes or situations under the guidance of the Little School Director, Ariana Pendiuc.

In the second part of the workshop, the children had the opportunity to participate in games and acting exercises (stimulation of imagination and creativity, concentration), coordinated by the actress and interpreter Tamara Roman.

The Little Stars School Movies Running In Cinemas From The United States, to Washington DC

 

We are very proud to tell you that the Film and Television School “Little Stars” has come across the ocean with two of our films running in cinemas in Washington DC, USA. The two films were selected by the European Union Delegation in the United States and took part in the Kids Euro Festival’s “Films for Kids – Starring Kids!” Section from 24 October to 9 November and were presented by Mr. Lucian Purcareanu , The representative of the Embassy of Romania in the United States.

Selected films are two of the most successful films of Little School: “Adventures of Little Landscapes in the Park” and “Little Vedas discover the secret of magnets”. They also attended the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014 and are now running at the Kids Euro Festival.

The Kids Euro Festival is a festival where European cultural diversity is celebrated, with unique, educative and interactive experiences.

The Little Stars Nichi Iftimoaie and Mara Moldovan represented Romania at one of the most important International Film Festivals for Children

The training and the experience gained from the courses and films of the Little Stars Film and Television School helped Nichi to be elected Jury President at the International Children’s Film Festival in Iran.

After countless roles in children’s short films, appearances in commercials, TV shows and voice dubs for comedies and successful animations such as Stuart Little and Peter Pan, the graduates of the Little School of Fine Arts represented Romania in the jury of one of the oldest and most important World film festivals that took place in the historic city of Isfahan, located on the famous Silk Road. Between 28 September and 7 October 2014, Mara Moldovan and Nichi Iftimoaie took part in the jury of the 28th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Iran.

If at the previous edition of the festival, Ema Pendiuc, director of the “Little Stars” School, took the name of the school and of Romania to Iran, being a jury as CIPEJ Vice-President of the International Film Center for Children and Young People this year , Nichi Iftimoaie followed his example and was elected President of the Jury.

Mara and Nichi enjoyed the Iranian experience, having the opportunity to get to know another dimension of the film world for children as jury members in a multicultural environment. For several days, they were present in Tehran, where they watched alongside other children of their age in Germany, Italy, Tunisia, Spain, Turkey, Pakistan, Greece, etc. a lot of professional films and animations for children and youngsters enrolled in countries around the world, and then participated in numerous seminars and workshops on children’s education in the historic city of Isfahan. Finally, Nichi delivered a speech at the award-winning festivities, with outstanding personalities of Iranian education and culture, including the Minister of Culture.

Children's Film Workshop, Little Stars in the DaKINO 23 International Film Festival, DaKIDS Section!

 

Children’s Film Workshop, Little Ideas in the DaKINO 23 International Film Festival, DaKIDS Section!

The activities will take place on Sunday, March 16 at 11.30 at the Hollywood Multiplex Bucharest Mall.

Each participant in the workshop will receive a surprise gift from the organizers at the end.

The workshop will be followed by the short film “Adventures of Little Landscapes in the Park”, directed by Ariana Pendiuc (2013, 18 min) and Little Stars Discover the Magnet Secret, directed by Ariana Pendiuc (2013, 22 min).

Entries, within the limits of the available places, are open to all children aged 6 to 9, at and contact@micilevedete.ro.

The workshop is an initiation in the film world, an opportunity for participating children to learn to sit in front of the room, speak at the microphone, familiarize themselves with the camera, to have the necessary attitude and discretion on the set.

The participants in the workshop will be involved in personal development exercises as well as scenic movement and will learn, depending on the situation, when to look at the camera and when not. Also, improvisation and imagination stimulation exercises will be performed – for example, simulating a casting test for a role in a movie. All exercises will be screened and projected on the screen, and then analyzed by the children under the guidance of Horaţiu Michel Bob and Iulia Verdeş, teachers of Little School!
